Happy Surgical patients in Ecuador!

Dr. Edward Kondrot receives a warm welcome and applause by hundreds of patients in the waiting hall as he arrives for his work day at the Militar hospital in Guayaquil. We work long days, 7 AM to 10 PM. We operate on many traumatized blind eyes from accidents in the fields for farm workers, coffee beans pickers. They ride the bus for 7 hours from the jungle and are put up in local guest houses for $3.50 a night including meals by charity Fundacion. They come in very blind and go home seeing again to resume their work to support their families. It’s Christmas. The season of giving. And we found a way to give back to a very worthy cause.
